I've always thought, what is it that makes a woman so much more stronger than a man.
What does she have in her dna that gives her the power to stand come what may...
How is she so much more even without you knowing or acknowledging her to be so.
I've always wanted to write about women who inspire me. Whom i see and think about, from time to time to gather some source of energy and stand up holding my head up, when i need to fly up high.
Yes, here on my blog you will read about women from time to time. About their struggles or may i say their wars. Their hardships, their journeys and their lives that will give you a high. A reason to make your own journey worth the while.
It is only fair to begin this journey of acknowledging women; with the one who is the reason behind me being what I am today! Alhumdulillah, my very first post on inspirational women flags on; with my mother!
Ma sha Allah! To everyone's surprise I am for the very first time going to be writing about the hardships of my mother. Her journey and her life!
Mommy i hope I don't embarrass you. Instead make you just as proud as we are of you!
(Also forgive me for addressing you and daddy with your names, because it won't be the same if I'd replace)
Mala was born in an origin of a bengali family. Living with two younger sisters and parents. At the age of nineteen, taking charge and caring about the family since her mother was a diabetic.
The family needed her to step up at an early age. She was a hard working girl and always keen on setting up a career for herself. A dancer at the nalanda university a preschool teacher, right after college. She was doing well at her end until she fell in love with a boy who came from a very different world.
In the midst of the eight's the hindu-muslim affair was a big no-no just as it is today. Maybe a little simpler but never easy.
Mala coming in from a small family and a different background had gotten entangled with
He came from a big family, consisting of five sisters, two brothers and a football team equivalent size of nieces and nephews and other family members who almost stayed together[Almost].
Their loved bloomed in the year 84' to a very moive type experience, runaway marriage!
How do you get married to a Muslim boy?
You convert or if i may take the liberty to say revert; into Islam. Yes, filmi or not but I take extreme pride to say that my mother accepted Islam and is an amazing Muslim better than even the people who are born with it!
Life was not as cool as it looks and it took only days for Mala now, officially Sameena to realise it. Her father has disowned her and taken away everything she ever owned. Sameena was on her own from the hour of that the news of her runaway marriage was announced. However her mother and her sisters came around sooner. Although the starting days were no easy. They were stormy and it was no less than a hurricane in both the houses.
Sameena started to live with the gigantic sized family. Where it was hard for everyone to accept her or it was just simpler to wanting to make it hard for Sameena just for the heck of it. She knew their was no going back; and this was a battle that was going to be on for a very long time.
Yes, people were hard on her for no reason or rhyme and that is just how life was going to be... until she packed her bags and moved into a rented apartment where it was solely upon her to beat the ghosts of her wrongs and make a new world.
On the other hand Shahnawaz was skeptical of the move but it was his mother who had told him to at the least not leave the woman he married(valiant of her). Not that the side comments ever stopped no mother is going to give her child away so easily and especially if it's a son.
[God forbid i may be the same!!!]
Sameena had so much to do now that she was living alone with her husband. Working to make an enough to support her husband who was trying to adjust to the fact that he had just moved out off from a family he never thought he ever would.
Doing it for a woman is no easy, and making a man do something out of his comfort zone is really the hardest a woman can do. Men are stubborn in a way that can not only be annoying but also be very dangerous. They don't give in and if they do, they have a habit to make you pay in the most uncertain ways....
Day after day working and trying to make a mark, Sameena was pregnant and before she could get excited.
She lost it! However, it wasn't long that I came along and my mother worked harder for my benefits. It took a long time for her husband to actually appreciate her being, that's only how men are.
No blame game, here!
Sameena's mother was proud of everything her daughter was doing and she was literally the backbone. Her father hadn't spoken to her in years now. It was only for his diabetic wife that Sameena was allowed to come visit her mother and sisters.
The sisters were too happy-busy caring about the baby and Sameena was back at work even before she knew it. Life was a struggle every day but coming back home to her baby was always worth all the efforts she was taking. And with all the support her mother gave she was ready to fight with whatever came her way...
Sameena had to stay strong just as her mother had advised led her too. "You have a girl child, she needs a mother and a father! Stay strong, I will forever be with you!" Were here last words.
Time didn't stop and Sameena didn't give up.
Working endlessly, taking care of everything now more than ever, she was pregnant again.
Much to her dismay, she was announced as an anemic patient.
She didn't loose hope but she lost three babies. Whom she just couldn't carry more than a few weeks. There was a dead threat and as her health gave up. Shahnawaz begged her to stop!
He wanted his wife alive. One child was more than enough.
Things got better and life got good after the 2000' arrived. Sameena gave up her job to enjoy the years of what she had lost in making up a family that is blessed in every which way!
Sameena is healthy and leading a pretty satisfying life. Although her father is still not in the talking terms but nevertheless, she has made peace with it. Shahnawaz now, not only appreciates her but also respects all her hard work and dedication to keep her family in such high regards. To note, we are supremely proud of her sincerity towards islam and we know she is going to make herself in the highest level of jannat! In sha Allah!
Mommy, i love you and you are indeed the bestest...
